Youth Recognition Awards – 2016 Nominations

DEADLINE: Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 4:00 p.m.

Dear Nominator,

Farmington Youth Assistance (FYA) is seeking youth nominations for its 31st Annual Youth Recognition Awards. We are looking for youth who deserve recognition for their extensive service, but who may not normally receive it from the community at large. One of the goals of Farmington Youth Assistance is to encourage positive examples of youth volunteerism. In order to honor these deserving youth we must locate them, and for that, we rely on you.

To be eligible for nomination, youth must…

• Reside in Farmington or Farmington Hills, attend Farmington Public Schools, or

perform community service in these communities

• Attend grades 7 through 12

• Exhibit exemplary volunteer service through their community, faith-based organization or school totaling a minimum of 100 hours. Paid services performed and community service for high school credit such as National Honor Society or the courts are NOT eligible. Length and quality of commitment and individual initiative will be considered.

• Nominations must be typed or printed clearly & legibly on the attached form and

submitted by the nominator. If you need more space, you may attach additional pages.

• The judgment of the Selection Committee is final.

Nominators should complete the Nomination Form for each youth nominated. The more detailed information given about the youth, the more likely the youth will be selected for this award. Feel free to make copies of the nomination form if you would like to nominate multiple youths. Electronic versions of the nomination form are available from FYA office at fya@farmington.k12.mi.us. The awards will be presented at the Youth Recognition Awards Breakfast on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 (beginning at 7:30 AM) at Glen Oaks Country Club, 30500 West Thirteen Mile Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48334.

Nominations must be submitted to the FYA office and received by Thursday, March 17, 2016, at 4:00 pm to be eligible for the 2016 awards and may be e-mailed, mailed, or faxed to the FYA office.

Building Bridges Mothers & Daughters

The Farmington Youth Assistance and Hōme Life Center are excited to announce a NEW class series for Mothers and Daughters (10-18): “Building Bridges and Strengthening the Mother-Daughter Relationship” will be held at Hōme Life Center, LLC, 23023 Orchard Lake Road, Suite A-1, Farmington. Please join us as we build-up and strengthen the bridges connecting our Mother-Daughter relationships.

Building Bridges is an 8-week series designed to strengthen and enhance the mother-daughter relationship.

Everyone will create their “hŌMe life tool box which we will be adding to weekly!

Series Schedule

Class 1~ Intro, Class Outline, Create & Design Home Life “Tool Box.”

Class 2~ Introspection

Class 3~ Mindfulness

Class 4~ Self Love

Class 5~ Communication/Deep Listening

Class 6~ Celebration, Review & Recap

What you can expect to experience each week:

  1. Recap from the previous week.
  2. Sharing circle
  3. Introspective thought provoking questions
  4. A breathing, Movement or Meditation based activity.
  5. A creative project connected to the weekly topic.

And a whole lot more….

Classes will be held on Mondays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm beginning February 1st.

On Sunday, February 28th, from 2 pm -3:30 pm, there is an optional Yoga class for Mothers and Daughters.

Early bird pricing until January 25th:

Holiday Angels Needed – Farmington Youth Assistance 2015

 

We are seeking individuals as well as groups who are interested in becoming Holiday Angels. Holiday Angels can participate in a variety of ways from adopting individual families to providing donations so that we may provide for our families in need who have older children between the ages of 13-16.
